DESCRIPTION

1971 Triumph Stag MK I. 3.0 V8 Manual Overdrive. Triumph White with Black Ambla upholstery, Black mohair hood and White hardtop. Purchased by the last owner in November 1981 and been in the same ownership for 38 years. The car was used daily up to 1990 when it was placed in storage until 1998 when a full major three year restoration was started. The car was completely stripped to a bare shell, mounted on a jig and the body blasted to bare metal. All traces of corrosion were removed with affected panels replaced with new ones and the body returned to A1 condition. Whilst the body was under restoration all other components were either re-built, replaced or repaired as necessary, this included an engine re-build. The interior was completely refurbed with a walnut dash, door cappings and centre console, new seat foams with genuine Ambla seat covers on all four seats plus new underlay and carpets. All work was completed and the car returned to the road in 2001. In 2013 the car was taken off of the road again and put into storage, the car was then removed in 2018 and recommissioned. A full detailed inspection of the car was undertaken and submitted for an mot test, a trackrod end was worn and all 4 tyres timelapsed and requiring changing. Two new trackrod ends were fitted, all wheels were removed, professionally refurbished and new tyres fitted. The carburettors were rebuilt and a new S.U fuel pump also fitted at this time. Testing the engine revealed a slight unevenness so the car was sent to E.J. Ward Stag Specialists who found low compression on number 1 cylinder, Wards removed the cylinder heads, had them refurbished, replaced the head gaskets and fitted new timing chains at the same time, the invoice is on file from January 2019 and the cost £2635.78. The history file is the best we have seen with a huge portfolio of bills and invoices as well as three photo albums full of restoration pictures. This Stag is very well sorted and drives exceptionally well and is the desirable manual gearbox model. It is very rare to find a car that has been in the same ownership for such a long time and not been offered to market. Absolutely any inspection is welcome. All major debit cards accepted. Free UK mainland delivery. Part exchange welcome. Please call for more details.
