1969 Rover 2000 SC P6. Brigade Red with Sandalwood leather upholstery. Supplied new to Mr Edwin Elkington, a Rover employee who selected the car from the production line and took delivery from Colliers of Birmingham on 1st February 1969. The optional extras specified with the car at the time were fog lamps, twin overtaking mirrors and Irvin safety harnesses. The total price was ?1,531.8/- although Mr Elkington qualified for a employees discount. He cherished the car for its first 18 years before being passed to family friend Norman Taylor who lavished care and attention on the car for the next 28 years, and the cars outstanding condition today is testament to his hard work and dedication. The car is very well known in the Midlands Rover Clubs as Norman and his wife were stalwarts of the P6 Rover Owners Club. The Rover then changed hands in 2015 tafter the sad passing of Mr Taylor. The car has a huge collection of Trophies, plaques and rosettes which have been collected at shows and rallies over 30 years by Mr Taylor and his wife and was continued to be shown by the most recent owner. No expense has been spared and there is a huge history file with the car containing bills, invoices and old mots dating back many years and confirming the mileage at just 94,000 as correct. Also present an original owners instruction manual and maintenance manual and interestingly a copy of Auto Express magazine featuring the car being tested alongside the new Rover 75 from 1999. Very seldom do cars this special come along and it is a real credit to all of its 3 owners. Most recently routine maintenance has been carried out which includes the fitment of a brand new laminated windscreen New OEM mild steel exhaust (stainless to noisey). New heater matrix and fan motor. Front seats refilled with the correct Dunlopillo foam. Seats recoloured with Gliptone Scuffmaster. A full set of new Continental tyres. Bluetooth enabled radio allowing your phone to be hands free which can be hidden with the original Rover blanking plate. Electronic ignition. This is an outstanding car that has never been restored just constantly maintained, repaired and invested in by all of its owners and has been thoroughly enjoyed and used by them all. This Rover is now waiting for the next leg of its journey, hopefully continuing where it left off, visiting shows and rallies and family outings.
