1966 Morris Minor 1000 Traveller — Almond Green
Some cars have a wonderful ability to make people smile, and a Morris Minor Traveller is certainly one of them. With its familiar shape, distinctive woodwork and cheerful exhaust note, it brings a little pleasure to even the shortest journey.
We’re delighted to offer this charming 1966 example, finished in Almond Green with green Ambla upholstery and matching green carpets. It is a lovely combination that suits the Traveller perfectly, and the car presents very well throughout.
Introduced in 1953, the Traveller added useful estate-car practicality to the much-loved Morris Minor. Its unmistakable timber-framed bodywork helped make it one of Britain’s most recognisable cars, equally at home carrying the family on holiday or helping with the weekly shop. The wider Minor family became the first British car range to pass one million sales, reaching that milestone in 1961.
This particular Traveller spent approximately four years with its last owner and has come to us through the family following the owner’s sad passing. Clearly a cherished car, it was enjoyed within the Morris Minor Owners Club and attended many shows and rallies. Its condition is a lovely reflection of that enthusiasm and care.
The interior deserves particular mention. The green Ambla upholstery and matching carpets create a wonderfully welcoming cabin, and it is one of the nicest Traveller interiors we have seen. A real credit to its previous owner, it makes spending time behind the wheel all the more enjoyable. Auxiliary gauges have also been fitted to the dashboard, adding a thoughtful and useful touch.
Outside, the Almond Green bodywork is complemented by good, strong woodwork, an important consideration when choosing a Traveller. Underneath, the car is also very solid, with strong structural areas and a protective treatment applied to help preserve it for the years ahead.
Routine maintenance has been carried out as required, and the car has covered only minimal mileage since a full service and the installation of a new distributor. It runs and drives very well, accompanied by that unmistakable Morris Minor exhaust “parp” that enthusiasts know and love.
For complete transparency, the car was recorded as a Category D in 2012. We understand this followed a minor knock to the front wing, with the damage professionally repaired at the time. A copy of the MotorCheck report is included in the vehicle’s history file and is available for prospective buyers to inspect. We are happy to discuss this history and want buyers to be fully informed from the outset.
There is much to enjoy here: a run through the countryside, a picnic packed in the back, or a Sunday spent among fellow enthusiasts at a local show. This Traveller has already been a much-enjoyed part of that world, and we would love to see it continue making memories with its next owner.
