DESCRIPTION

1955 Morris Minor – Upgraded 948cc A-Series Engine. Two Previous Owners. Extensive History. Almond green with green leather upholstery.
Few British classics enjoy the affection and recognition of the Morris Minor. Designed under the direction of Alec Issigonis and launched in 1948, it revolutionised affordable motoring with its advanced engineering, practicality and excellent handling. Today, it remains one of Britain’s most beloved classics, supported by a strong enthusiast community and admired for its simplicity, reliability and timeless design.
This 1955 Morris Minor is a charming and well-cared-for example that perfectly captures the appeal of these iconic cars. Honest, usable and clearly cherished, it is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.
Having had just two previous owners from new, the car benefits from excellent provenance. It has been in the hands of its current enthusiast owner for the past two years, during which time it has been regularly driven and always stored under cover.
A key highlight is the upgrade to the later 948cc A-Series engine. This popular and well-regarded period modification provides improved performance and flexibility over the original unit, making the car more capable in modern traffic while retaining its classic character.
The indicated mileage is believed genuine and is supported by an extensive history file. This includes original handbooks, historic invoices, previous MOT certificates and documentation dating back many years, offering a comprehensive record of the car’s life.
Around seven months ago, approximately £1,000 was spent on restoration work to maintain its condition. This included replacement sills on both sides and refurbishment of exterior brightwork such as door handles and headlamp trims. The result is a car that presents very well.
The bodywork is in excellent condition with no visible rust. Chrome is bright, wheels and tyres are in very good order, and the underside has been waxoyled for added protection.
Inside, the car retains its original charm. The interior is clean and authentic, showing only light age-related wear consistent with its age and brand new carpets have recently been fitted. The dashboard remains unmodified, with no modern radio fitted, preserving its period appearance. All controls function as expected.
Mechanically, the car performs exactly as it should. The 948cc engine starts easily, runs smoothly and delivers a pleasant driving experience. The gearbox selects gears cleanly, the clutch operates correctly and the car drives without unwanted noises.
The car was last serviced in 2025 and has clearly been well maintained. It comes with two sets of keys, original handbooks, MOT history and a substantial file of invoices. It still retains its original registration number which should you wish is transferable and has a significant value on its own but we like to see them staying with the car.
Although MOT exempt, it will be supplied with a fresh MOT for added reassurance.
Examples with just two previous owners, strong history and the desirable 948cc upgrade are becoming increasingly rare. This is a charming, usable classic ideal for shows, weekend drives or relaxed touring.
A wonderful opportunity to own a piece of British motoring history, ready to be enjoyed.
Any inspection is welcome, UK delivery can be arranged and part exchange will be considered.
