DESCRIPTION

1983 Land Rover Range Rover Classic. 3500cc V8 Manual 5 Speed. White with beige velour upholstery. The Range Rover Classic is a 4x4, Sport utility vehicle series produced initially by the Rover (later Land Rover) division of British Leyland, and latterly the Rover Group from 1970 to 1996. The first generation of vehicles produced under the Range Rover name, it debuted as a 2-door; a 4-door became available in 1981, with the 2-door phased out in January 1994. For most of its history it was known simply as the "Range Rover"; Land Rover coined the term "Range Rover Classic" to distinguish it from the P38A which succeeded it when the two were briefly built alongside, and applied the name retrospectively to all first-generation Range Rovers. This is one of the last carburettor equipped cars but also one of the first to adopt the 5 speed gearbox. The car is very tidy throughout with a very strong chassis and is rust free. It has been rebuilt over a five year period and a huge expenditure on parts with all invoices and receipts on file. Most mechanical items replaced or rebuilt. The white paintwork is bright and lustrous and the panels are arrow straight. The upholstery is free from any rips or tears and shows very little signs of wear. The door cards still fit well and are not stretched or disfigured and the roof shows no sagging. Under the bonnet the engine bay is clean and tidy with no unsightly oil leaks. Its high standard and reliability were confirmed on a recent test by ourselves with the 4x4 performing and handling exceptionally well, the V8 very strong married to a smooth gearbox. Early Range Rovers are certainly flavour of the month these days, with prices of Land Rover’s Reborn models starting at £135,000! This well finished and nicely original l example looks a sound investment, would make the perfect shooting accessory or super-cool vehicle for the school run or clambering to the top of that mountain.
