DESCRIPTION

1988 Ferrari 328 GTS. Rare and beautiful colour combination of Blue Chiaro and a Light Grey interior. The Ferrari 328 GTS and GTB made their worldwide debut at the 1985 Frankfurt Motor Show and its styling was an obvious evolution of the Ferrari 308 series, however, Pininfarina's Leonardo Fioravanti had softened his previous design and it still remained a popular choice with the Ferrari aficionados. Another significant difference over the Ferrari 308 is the use of galvanized steel, which greatly reduces potential rust problems compared to its forebear. Under the engine cover is the same transversely-mounted, fuel-injected V8 from the Ferrari 308 Quattrovalvole, with an increase in displacement. By increasing both bore and stroke, the 'quattrovalvole's capacity was raised to 3,186cc which, together with a higher compression ratio, revised pistons, and an improved Marelli engine management system, lifted maximum power to 270bhp at 7,000rpm. Top speed was raised to within a whisker of 160mph (258km/h) with 0-60mph being achieved in 5.5 seconds. Beneath the skin, the tubular steel chassis remained much as before, with all-round independent suspension by double wishbones, four-wheel servo-assisted disc brakes, and aluminium-alloy wheels, though the latter were increased in size. The interior too had come in for subtle revision and now featured improved instruments, switchgear, and heating. While the 328 GTS was a runaway commercial success for Ferrari, the number of RHD cars built was less than 10% of the production run. This particular Ferrari 328 GTS is one of just 250 right-hand-drive models without ABS. The lovely Spider (Targa top) is presented in the incredibly rare combination of ‘clear blue' (Blu Chiaro) with a contrasting light grey hide and dark blue carpets. We understand there are fewer than 15 right-hand-drive examples of the 328 GTS in this particular colour combination. Additionally, this car also features split-rim alloy wheels, a fitment usually reserved for its ‘bigger brother’ the exclusive 288 GTO. It has recently benefitted from new tyres all round, brake discs and pads, and a suspension service including springs and shock absorbers. Keys Motorsport have carried out the scheduled service and cam belt replacement and the car has covered less than 500 miles since. The car is accompanied by an extensive history file including service invoices and previous MoTs and has covered just 61,000 miles. The 328 GTS is a wonderful classic Ferrari, eminently usable and yet offers genuinely impressive performance. A rare right hand drive Blue Chiaro example that has been professionally prepared. Absolutely any inspection is welcome. The Ferrari will be supplied with a fresh MOT and free U.K delivery included.
