1987 Daimler 3.6 XJ40 Automatic. Satin Beige metallic with Barley leather upholstery. A lovely early model XJ40 Daimler that has been with its last keeper for 20 years and has covered just 61,000 miles from new. The car was supplied new by Hatfields Jaguar of Sheffield on 2nd October 1987 and still retains its original dealer number plates and rear window sticker. The Daimler-branded cars represented the highest trim level, they were fitted with the single rectangular headlamps. Cosmetically, it differed from other models with its fluted radiator grille surround, boot-lid plinth and detail finishes. A Daimler interior features fold-out picnic tables for the rear passengers and a 2-passenger rear seat versus the 'flat', 3-passenger item on the Jaguars. The car retains its original dealer wallet with owners handbook and the history file contains bills and invoices and a large amount of mot certificates dating back many years to confirm the mileage as correct. Also included is a very nice magazine article featuring the car when it was sold at 42,000 miles as well as the original tool kit and Haynes manual. XJ40’s are becoming a rare sight now and low mileage good examples are becoming harder to find. This car still runs and drives very well and is very much at home in modern traffic. It has had the wheels upgraded to a set of Imperial alloys however the original set are still with the car and included in the sale.
