DESCRIPTION

1968 Daimler V8 250 Automatic. Opalescent Grey with Red leather upholstery. The V8-250 is a four-door saloon which was produced by The Daimler Company Limited in the United Kingdom from 1962 to 1969. It was the first Daimler car to be based on a Jaguar platform, the first Daimler car with a unit body, and the last Daimler car to feature a Daimler engine after the company was bought from the Birmingham Small Arms Company by Jaguar Cars in 1960. The engine is the hemispherical head V8 designed by Edward Turner and first used in the Daimler SP250 sports car. Produced from October 1967 to 1969, the V8-250 was a minor face-lift and re-labelling of the 2.5 V8 saloon and differed in relatively small details: "slimline" bumpers and over-riders (shared with the Jaguar 240/340 relabelled at the same time), negative-earth electrical system, an alternator instead of a dynamo and twin air cleaners, one for each carburettor. Other new features included padding over the instrument panel, padded door cappings and ventilated leather upholstery, reclinable split-bench front seats and a heated rear window. This Daimler has had just 2 owners from new and has covered just 68,000 miles in its 55 years. The last keeper has owned the car since 1979, some 44 years and was put into storage over 20 years ago. The car has recently been recommissioned and put back on the road with lots of new parts fitted and with invoices all on file. It is a real survivor and has a lovely patina to it, the paintwork displays well but upon close inspection there is evidence of micro blistering and age related marks. The upholstery still very tidy and presenting well. Mechanically this is where the car comes into its own, starting on the button and driving just as it should, the V8 engine pulling effortlessly through the automatic transmission. The large history file has bills and invoices dating back to 1973 as well as a large amount of old mot certificates as well as the original Daimler service book. Although now tax and mot exempt a fresh mot will be applied for your own peace of mind. This is a car that can be driven and enjoyed as is or can be easily taken to the next level if you so wish. Absolutely any inspection welcome. All major debit and credit cards accepted. Part exchange considered. Finance arranged. Free U.K mainland delivery. Please contact us for any further information. Lots more pictures and a video on our website and Facebook pages.
