When the Mercedes-Benz R107 SL was launched in 1971, the first shade of White that buyers could choose was ‘White 050’. This was replaced in 1975 by ‘Classic White 737’, which enjoyed a decade as an available option before being updated in 1985 by ‘Arctic White 147’. This new shade would stay with the SL until production ended in 1989, a fresher, sharper, brighter shade of white for the final few years of production. This is a rare colour to find on an R107 SL, complimented best by a blue interior combined with a blue roof – illustrated by the car shown here.
